Join Miki Shim and Quail Run Wines for a one-day teapot workshop and wine tasting in Sonoma Valley, California.

Participants will use hand building techniques to design and construct functional and decorative teapots lead by Miki Shim.

Your day will start with light refreshments, introductions and a warm up exercise of making a pinched and coiled teapot. We will familiarize ourselves with all the pieces and parts and talk about best practices on what makes a teapot a teapot and how to make one that doesn’t drip!

After a brief demonstration on our next teapot form, we will roll out some slabs to use templates made available to you to construct a slab formed teapot.

After a lunch break, we will finalize the construction of the work in progress and discuss glazing techniques and finishing options.

Whether you decide to make it super functional or purely decorative or somewhere in the middle, this workshop will sure to inspire more teapots on your clay journey.
